- ____ Woodsong Acoustics
- Chris Yeaton's new album, Ho`o Pa`a (The Stand) is a delight for the guitar affectionado. Using progressive techniques for the solo guitar, Chris Yeaton weaves a rich tapestry of story telling into his music. Combining both traditional Hawaiian music with original pieces, the listener is transcended into a world of Slack Key and American Fingerstyle guitar.
- ____"Soul Shaker"
- Vernon Lincoln and his band "Soul Shaker" came into GSR December 2007, to lay down the tracks for "You Belong to Me", a solid song about the iron grip of meth or ice on its victims.
Vernon made a great YouTube video of the recording session, with other relevant images. If you want a copy of the song to help with the fight against this horrible drug, Vernon can email a copy to you.
Thanks Vernon.

- ____ "Tiger Rising" - Stephen Cline, Andy Rising and Jessica Marcus ("Tiger Paw")__"The Shore Calls the Sea"
- Tiger Rising" is Steve Cline (Guitar, Laud, etc), Tiger Paw (Jessica Marcus) (Percussion) and Andy Rising (Cello, Harp, Vocals). I suggested the formation of this group in the Fall of 2006, and have watched their evolution in wonder. Their eclectic style has been called "chamber folk". On the Grass Shack Records Music Page, "High Strung" is the first track from this July 2007 released album "The Shore Calls the Sea". This album is nothing short of a luscious sonic banquet.

- ____Kelvyn Guitars
- Here's a few pics taken in the Shack during a session for Kelvyn, with Chris Yeaton playing a plethera of great Santa Cruz guitars of Kelvyn's. I ended up buying the one that recorded extremely well. You can hear it on the first track (Napo`opo`o Shuffle) of Don Kaulia's "Slack Key...in the Key of Aloha". ===================
- ____ John Estes, "Dancing Around the Banana Tree"
- John Estes is a 54 year old native Californian. He has been playing the guitar for over 30 years, and particularly has been a student of, and has developed a style of finger picking that is mercurial, intense, dramatic, beautiful and at times amazing. John is a collector of "old vinyl" and his guitar heroes include: Mississippi John Hirt, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Doc Watson, Leo Kotke, Jerry Garcia, Joni Mitchell and JJ Cale with a bit of John Williams there also. This disc was recorded in a wonderful new studio built by Richard Harrison, at GrassShackRecords, in Napoopoo, Hawiaii. John was recorded "live" with no internal pickups on his 1975 Martin D18. Two mikes on the guitar, and one for vocals, and every cut is a complete unedited take with no breaks or editing of guitar or vocals. Each song an individual performance.
- ____Mystery of Souls - Melanie Hutton and Marshall Lefferts
- Marshall Lefferts and Melanie Hutton have made an exquisite album, both musically and sonically, that captivates and enthralls me. Grass Shack Records had the pleasure of tracking Marshall's guitar and Melanie's hammered dulcimer on "Caressing the Unnameable", and we have ever since been following the album to its wonderful conclusion.
Check out the website and CDBaby for more information on this acclaimed work.

This music is better than matzo ball soup! Mickey Hart
Recorded on the shores of Kealakekua Bay at Grass Shack Records by Richard Harrison and mastered by Mickey Hart at the Grateful Dead Studios in San Rafael, California.
- ____ Laura Warmheart and her Hindustani Slide Guitar
- Mystery was recorded at Grass Shack Records in Kealakekua, Hawaii. It contains six ragas and was created in one take in one afternoon. I sat down in front of the mikes as if doing a live performance and just started to play. All of the music was improvised, as is typical in classical Indian music performance. Richard Harrison did a wonderful job on the sound engineering, he really encouraged my creativity. We added no special effects or overdub tracks, all of the sound you hear was created acoustically with one instrument.
